Saint Anthony Statues

Saint Anthony is the much beloved friar who lived during the time of Saint Francis of Assisi.  Saint Anthony was born in Portugal, of wealthy parents but left his family to follow the Franciscan order and work as a preacher, teaching theCatholic Faith.  He travelled in southern Europe and to Morocco.  Today we can find numerous statues and paintings of him throughout the world.   Often he is shown with the Child Jesus in his arms and a lily in his hand.  Both symbolize  the trust, purity, innocence and integrety with which we regard Saint Anthony.
